I’m posting on behalf of a close friend I’ve known since 6th grade. He’s a 17 year old male from UP. He was living in a shared flat in Noida with four flatmates he’d known for several years. After they discovered he had converted to Islam, one of their family members came and attempted to debate him into reconverting. When he refused, he was given 24 hours to vacate the premises despite having paid rent.

During this incident he was accused of being brainwashed by a terrorist organisation and being funded by external sources. No evidence was provided for these claims.

After leaving he discovered a Telegram group chat where the primary person involved openly stated, and I’m paraphrasing, that he removed my friend from the flat specifically because he had become Muslim. He also made statements suggesting my friend corrupts people and used religious slurs. Multiple people participated in this conversation.

My friend initially decided to let this go and move on. However the person has continued actively defaming him — reaching out to mutual contacts and people from his past, spreading deliberate lies and misrepresenting what happened. The narrative being pushed is entirely false and is affecting my friend’s reputation with people he actually cares about. At this point it can no longer be ignored as it is an ongoing and escalating pattern, not a one time incident.

We have screenshots of the group chat with timestamps as well as accounts from people he has contacted.

        Our questions:

Does this constitute wrongful eviction on religious grounds?

Does the terror organisation accusation and ongoing defamation constitute a case?

Is Section 153A IPC applicable here?

How time sensitive is this — should he file something now or can this wait?

        Any guidance appreciated.
