Posting on behalf of a friend. She is 19. Consumer court case is in scrutiny stage. I am not posting the legal filing — only the evidence trail that is already in her bank records and screenshots.

        What happened:

        December 13, 2025

She paid Swiggy ₹1 for a One subscription. It had a Spotify free trial offer. She clicked it. No payment gateway. No OTP. No “confirm purchase” screen.

        March – April 2026

Trial ended. Spotify started attempting to charge ₹199. She had no saved card on Spotify (screenshot). Still, they kept trying.

        April 2, 2026

₹199 was successfully debited from her HDFC bank account.

        April 5, 2026

She tried to pay ₹2000 for her study room fees. Payment failed. That is when she saw the ₹199 debit.

She contacted HDFC. They blocked her UPI services and permanently deactivated her debit card.

She filed a complaint with the RBI Ombudsman.

        April 10, 2026

HDFC sent an SMS saying “UPI services are active.”

She tested it by trying to transfer ₹1 to her other bank account. It failed. The SMS was false.

        Consumer Court

She filed against Spotify, Swiggy, and HDFC. Case is in scrutiny stage. Judge did not reject it.

        Proof she has (screenshots):

        1. Spotify “No saved card” page

        2. Spotify support chat showing multiple failed attempts

        3. Google Pay transaction showing ₹199 debit

        4. HDFC SMS saying “UPI active” + failed self-transfer

        5. Swiggy ₹1 transaction

        What the law says (RBI):

        · Zero Liability for unauthorized transactions if bank cannot prove customer negligence

        · Explicit consent required for auto-debit mandates

        What I need from you:

        1. Legal holes in this?

        2. Should she post full evidence on Reddit or keep for court?

        3. Has this happened to you?

Disclaimer: Consumer court case is at scrutiny stage. Screenshots are from her phone and bank account.

TL;DR: Spotify took ₹199 without saved card. Swiggy shared UPI data. HDFC lied about fixing it. Court is looking at it. Need advice.
