How does the judiciary system even work

there was an incident near my Village, there was an family, where the husband k@lled his wife with help of his father, because they were stressed as she gave birth to 3 daughters, (ik gender is based on husband ) and they went to jail for it, and both of them came out of jail in just 3 years, and that guy got married to another women, and have a son now, but my question was, the court gives 5-8 years jail for road rage, hit and run, 307, but for actual homicide, they got out in just three years, how, does bribery happen in judiciary too.
