Hello. I am freshly inducted, not a nepo baby, in fact only have some corporate experience so far with very few internships and fewer actual court hearings, barring a few SC and district court hearings here and there. Despite trying to absorb whatever I could during these few hearings, I am still quite nervous – about my own appearances now, mostly around the protocol. I am 30 years old (female if it matters), and just starting out, I do not want to make mistakes at this point. Please advice me, senior lawyers, on how I should address Judges – at DHC, SC, and at District Courts. “My Lord” or “My Lady” sounds so clunky? Is it still frequently used everywhere? Janaab at district courts? Sir/Ma’am ok to use? Also, if there’s any other advice you would give a fresher just starting out, please please do so! Regarding conduct, clothing, networking etc etc..
Thank you, ever so grateful!
