UHi everyone,
I’m looking for advice regarding a property/legal situation in Mumbai and would really appreciate any guidance.
Background:
I (23F) live with my mother in my maternal grandfather’s house.
My mother is divorced and an only child.
The house is currently in my maternal grandfather’s name (and his father’s name mentioned in the agreement).
The property was purchased in the 1990s.
On the share certificate and building records, only my maternal grandfather’s name appears (not his father, Idk the exact reason but maybe it was because it died in the same year before all the procedure was done).
Family situation:
My maternal grandfather had one brother and one sister (sister is deceased).
Both my maternal grandfather, his wife and his parents are also deceased.
Only his brother is alive, but we have very minimal contact (once a year or so).
No contact with extended family otherwise.
Current issue:
The building is going under redevelopment/reconstruction.
The house is not formally registered yet.
We recently cleared stamp duty under Abhay Yojana (it’s been 2-3 years)
Now we want to properly register the property and transfer ownership to my mother.
Questions:
What is the correct legal process to register this property now?
Since, we don’t have in contact with them much and they are not ready to help in this process, what can we do ?
Also the building committee is not ready to transfer it easily, Idk why they are making it complicated, or maybe it’s very complicated….
It will be very helpful for me, if anyone can suggest to me what to do
Because I can’t afford legal services, I’m the only one who’s earning and that too not much below 20k
I’m trying my best but there’s no one to guide me.
