I’m looking for legal advice regarding a relationship that lasted 2 years and ended in a way that feels like clear deception and exploitation.
The guy I was in a relationship with lives in the US. Throughout our relationship, he kept saying he was afraid his mother wouldn’t agree to our marriage because of caste differences, but he also repeatedly told me he would eventually speak to her. Based on that, I continued the relationship in good faith.
Recently, I found out that while still being with me, he was also involved with a 19-year-old girl from his own community and had already asked her for marriage. Their families are now actively discussing their alliance. At the same time, he kept telling me he needed more time to talk to his mother about us.
When I confronted him, he completely denied ever loving me, said he never intended to marry me, and admitted he asked the other girl for marriage. He also made a disturbing statement that he got physically involved with me only because I “gave him a chance,” which makes me feel used and exploited under false pretenses.
I tried reaching out to his family and the other girl, but they are all supporting him and dismissing my concerns. He is now blaming me for creating issues by finding out the truth.
Given this situation, I want to understand:
\- Does this qualify as cheating or fraud under Indian law?
\- Can this be considered exploitation or sex under false promise of marriage?
\- What kind of evidence would I need to take legal action?
\- Is it possible to file a complaint in India even if he is currently in the US?
\- What are the realistic legal options available in such cases?
I would really appreciate guidance from anyone who has legal knowledge or has dealt with similar situations.
