Yesterday, a power line fault or something else caused transformer to blow up in my hometown/village.
It caused electrical surge that was so bad that it:
– Burned/melted our meter (fire)
– Caused on fire and fried every single fan in our house
– Obviously the wiring inside would be fried as well.
– Might have damaged refrigerator as well but can’t check without electricity.
It did all this despite having that thing in place that cuts power.. forgot the name.
This is not the first time its happening but this time it could’ve burned our whole house down it we had some wooden interior or something. Last time something similar happened but we repaired fans.
Fortunately my mom went inside the same time and noticed the fire.
My question is,
How do I proceed and 1. Calculate the damage, 2. Get compensation for damage, 3. Escalate this matter legally because I don’t think they’ll pay for anything other than replacing the main power line and meter.
