UHi everyone,
My friend and I got scammed while trying to buy tickets for an Ipl match (RCB vs CSK).
– A person on X claimed he could arrange tickets via his “uncle in KSCA”.
– Conversation moved to WhatsApp. He asked for trust proof, so my friend shared Aadhar, company ID, and live location.
– He demanded advance; we paid ₹13,500 (half for 6 tickets).
– After payment, he kept delaying ticket confirmation for days.
– On match day, he said tickets weren’t booked and promised a refund.
– He delayed refund for ~1 week with excuses, then blocked my friend after he told he will file fir against him
We have:
– His phone number (WhatsApp + also linked to his bank account)
– UPI transaction details
– Chat screenshots
– His X account (no personal info of him there tho)
Questions:
1. What can be done
2. Chances of recovering money?
3. Can he be traced via phone/bank details?
4. Any immediate steps we should take?
Even if recovery isn’t possible, I want to ensure proper action is taken so he doesn’t scam others.
Any advice would really help.
