PARTICIPANT
April 25, 2026 at 6:35 pmSo this happened today and honestly, I don’t even know what to do at this point. I feel so frustrated.
As most people probably know, old electricity meters are being replaced with new ones these days. The same was happening in our area.
What happened
Around 7 PM in the evening, two electricians/linemen came to our house to change the meter.
We clearly told them:
“It’s already getting late, please don’t change it right now. If anything goes wrong, we won’t be able to fix it at night.”
But they didn’t listen.
They were very casual, unprofessional, even laughing and mocking us like:
“Arre isme kya farak padta hai…”
Despite repeatedly telling them not to proceed, they forced and changed the meter anyway.
The problem starts immediately
The moment they connected the main wire:
Our inverter/UPS started beeping continuously
It showed “overload”
This had never happened before, unless the battery was low
We told them:
“You’ve done something wrong. Why it is beeping like that, At least fix this before leaving.”
And
Their response was
Are bhai ye inverter ku rone lag gya ab
Abhi tk to theek tha
And they changed the wires, I mean they did something.
But they only tried for 1 more min and they started saying very causally
Apka inverter overload hogya hai.
Are bhai aaj se phle to nahi hua?
And they kept saying
“Not our fault”
“Inverter ka issue hai”
“Call your own electrician”
“Hum to line vale hai” and they ran.
They locked the meter box and left, while the inverter kept beeping non-stop.
Things got worse
After they left:
Electricity wasn’t properly coming through inverter lines
Fans and lights connected to inverter stopped working
There was even sparking happening
We tried to reach them but didn’t have their number.
So we called Bijli Vibhag, registered a complaint, got another number, and called again.
By this time, it was already around 8 PM.
Another technician comes
A person came after the complaint.
He checked and kept repeating:
“Our work is only till the meter. After that, we don’t care.”
He kept saying:
“Input/output aa raha hai meter mein”
“Your inverter is faulty”
We told him clearly:
“It got damaged because of YOUR team”
But he refused to accept any responsibility.
He kept trying to avoid, manipulate, and deflect the situation.
We pushed back
We insisted:
At least acknowledge the issue
At least diagnose properly
Call your senior/management
After pressure, he called someone and claimed:
“I have fixed everything, but inverter is not working, because the two guys who came before him to change the meter lines did something”
Then he left.
Then he comes back again (with another electrician)
Both of them came back and were already irritated and defensive.
They said:
“We are linemen. We only handle pole work. We don’t do house wiring.”
We asked:
“Then whose fault is this? We didn’t do anything.”
Still, no accountability.
But
I asked directly what the issue is atleast tell that.
He didn’t tell me clearly, but told the other electrician something like:
“Phase ke saath neutral jod diya tha…”
And because of that:
“Inverter/UPS phook gaya (burnt/damaged)”
So basically, wrong wiring during meter installation damaged our inverter.
And we later on checked it also damaged our ac 😭
Bro we lower middle class family bought it just 1 year ago and that too with installation with my own salary and this is what their irresponsible, unskilled team did to us..
When we asked:
“Who will pay for this?”
He casually said:
“Electricity ka kaam hai madam, thodi gadbad ho hi jaati hai…”
No apology. No responsibility.
Instead, he got slightly aggressive and said:
“Call JE sir if you want.”
Ab aage suno, it’s more worst
We called the JE (Junior Engineer)
We asked for the number and my brother called him.
Conversation went like:
My Brother said:
“Good evening sir, aaj hamare uder ke meters change hue the sir, aap aae the”
(He said this because he had seen the JE and team in the area)
JE’s reply:
“Kya bol rahe ho? Pata hai kisse baat kar rahe ho?”
Very rude and offended tone. Why are you offended bhai?
My brother said
“Haan sir, JE se hi baat kar rahe hain.”
JE:
Got defensive for no reason
Didn’t listen properly
And said toh kya baat kr rhe ho ye. Me aaya tha kya.
Mere bhai n kaha haa aap hi aae the apni team ke sath..
He said’
“Monday office aana”
Then cut the call
Current situation right now:
Inverter is still not working
Electricity flow is completely messed up
AC is damaged
It’s night time
Nothing is fixed
If there’s a power cut, it’s literally pitch black
It’s peak summer, temperature goes up to 38°C
I work from home, this is affecting everything
And the worst part — no one is taking responsibility
I’m honestly so frustrated right now.
Like… kya yahi sab sirf aam janta ko hi jhelna padta hai?
They come, do whatever they want, mess things up, and just leave?
A JE is a government official, and government is supposed to be for the public, right?
But if the public is suffering because of you, then who is responsible?
We all earn money with hard work.
We understand the value of things.
Then why should we bear the loss for someone else’s mistake?
bina light ke reh lenge… but jo nuksaan hua hai, uska kya?
And the attitude??
Talking like we’re nobody… like we don’t even deserve basic respect.
We trusted them, let them do their job, and now we’re the ones stuck in darkness and heat.
Bhai seriously… what do we even do in this situation?
Anyone faced something like this? Any help would really mean a lot.
