April 24, 2026 at 5:44 pmSo I worked at a small marketing agency for about 2 months. Before joining I was verbally told I’d be getting โน18,000 a month. After I actually started they quietly reduced it to โน15,000 without telling me. I only found out when I got paid. I didn’t make a big deal of it at the time because I was already planning to leave soon anyway so I just let it go and kept working.I was also told I’d be given a proper written contract but that never happened. Instead they sent some sample document over WhatsApp that didn’t even have my name or salary on it. I said it seemed fine because I thought an actual contract was coming.
The working conditions were really bad throughout. Sunday work, late night messages, constant embarrassment for any work completed – good or bad and at one point a family member passed away and I informed them I wouldn’t be available that day. They still contacted me and expected me to work.
I eventually resigned. After I did, my employer negotiated with me saying work 15 days and he would clear my full payment after that. I negotiated it down to 10 days. Literally the next day the harassment got so bad I couldn’t continue. Even then I didn’t just disappear, I told them I would complete whatever pending work I could.
Now almost a month later I still haven’t been paid and when I asked he said whatever dues I have are forfeited because I didn’t serve my full notice period.
I genuinely have no income right now and can’t afford a lawyer. What’s the best way to actually recover my salary?
