3 days ago, I went to buy an O General AC for my living room (~270 sq ft) from a well-known retail chain in Tamil Nadu.
        The salesperson suggested two options:
        2.0 Ton Inverter AC – ₹65,000
        “2.2 Ton” Non-Inverter AC (Thailand model) – ₹79,000

He strongly pushed the second option, saying it would cool better and is “the best choice” for my room. I was honestly confused and spent almost 90 minutes deciding.

Eventually, I went with the 2.2 Ton non-inverter AC for ₹75,000 (after discount), even though I knew it would consume more electricity. My main reason was the extra 0.2 ton capacity for better cooling.

After delivery, I checked the box and noticed two things:
        1. The combined MRP of indoor + outdoor units is ₹74,146 (less than what I paid).
        2. The AC is actually labeled as a 2.0 Ton unit, not 2.2 Ton.

        When I questioned the salesperson:
He said the outdoor unit is a 2025 model and prices have increased in 2026.

He also said “2.2 Ton” was just a way to explain cooling capacity, not the actual spec.

Now they’re offering to replace the outdoor unit with a 2026 model (MRP ₹77,740 total).

Honestly, I feel misled and not fully satisfied with the whole experience.
        Has anyone faced something similar?
Is this normal practice or was I clearly mis-sold?

What would you do in this situation—ask for a full replacement, refund, or accept the upgrade?
I would really appreciate your thoughts before I escalate this further.

        TL;DR:
Salesperson convinced me to buy a “2.2 Ton” O General AC for ₹75k, but after delivery it’s actually a 2.0 Ton unit and MRP is lower than what I paid. The store is now offering a model swap. Feeling misled—what should I do?

Update: Last night (24/4/26) visited the showroom and went straight to the branch manager and informed about my situation. He tried to convince me saying the said AC is the best and i made the better choice, but i stood my ground and asked for a refund. He asked me to wait until 12PM today so that he can contact their HO about my situation and inform me of their decision. Will update after the call
