May 7, 2026 at 9:27 amWhile coming back from office on my bike I had an accident with another scooter. The fault was mostly from other party. No police was called at that time. I came back home and took first aid. Other party went to hospital maybe. I had minor injuries and some damage on bike. Other party also had the same. I shared my number on their request which I think should not have shared. They are now calling for asking my bike number saying they have to declare it for claiming their insurance. I and my family are hesitant of the legal trouble it might cause. I have a valid third party insurance cover which will expire this week. Is it ok to give my bike number? The bike is on my father’s name and currently I am using it out of the registered state. This was my first time having an accident.

May 7, 2026 at 9:31 amYour bike number is not required for filing their first party insurance. Most likely, they’ll file an FIR (Not to punish you, but to get it done through your third party insurance).

May 7, 2026 at 11:48 amDon’t share your bike number and if mistake is from their part either you ask them to share their bike number to do an FIR or simply block them.**Bonus tip**: To get first-party insurance, create accident story around animal(cow) like: applied sudden brake/sharp turn due to animal suddenly coming in my direction, this increases chances of insurance approval mutlifolds as there is no mistake of either party in case of sudden animal involvement. I got this trick from insurance guy only and it successfully worked for me 3 times till date.

May 7, 2026 at 10:34 amHi. Lawyer here.
What might you mean by legal trouble?
Giving it or not giving it – either ways will bring no change. He has your number. More than enough to reach you.Give it – help him out. Let him claim insurance.
