Hey Reddit, I really need some guidance here because we’re completely stuck and don’t know what to do.

My brother was living in a PG near Surbhi Hospital (Noida). Here’s the situation:
        What happened:

        • The building owner had rented out his property to someone who was running it as a PG
        • The PG operators recently vacated and left
        • After they left, the building owner stepped in and locked the entire PG
        • He is now accusing the tenants (including my brother) of stealing his electronic items — which is completely false
        • He is refusing to return the luggage and belongings of all tenants still living there
        • My brother and several other residents are stuck with zero access to their stuff
        What we tried:
        • We approached the local police for help
        • Police said “it’s a civil matter, we can’t interfere” and sent us away
        • We’re stuck with no idea what to do next
        What we need help with:
        • Is the owner legally allowed to lock the PG and withhold tenants’ belongings?
        • What legal action can we take — and how fast?
        • Is there any way to escalate beyond the local police?
        • Can we file a complaint against the owner for wrongful detention of property?
This is affecting multiple people, not just my brother. Any lawyers, legal folks, or anyone who has faced something similar — please help.
