Grandfather passed away and no documents for his property is there, need help to figure out the next steps.

Hi All,

Posting for the first time from a new account, cousins follow my original account.

My grandfather brought a house a Bengaluru in 1970s but lost its paper so he kind of had some not original document saying the property belongs to him.

My grandfather passed away and left no will but he verbally always informed his kids that my father will inherit his house. My dad’s siblings are okay with handling over the house to my dad but we don’t have original property papers to make the transfer.

Consulted few lawyers but both are giving many advices by more or less expect us to shell out around 1-2 lakhs for it.

I wanted to know what to do and get my ducks in order before other family issues start over.
