Back on 12th December 2025, I sent a parcel through the DTDC Roorkee branch because I was leaving IIT Roorkee campus the very next morning and moving back home to Assam. I paid the full shipping amount before leaving and packed some of my most important belongings inside it, thinking it would safely reach my hometown.
# It never did.
After shifting back to Assam, I kept calling the Roorkee branch and DTDC customer care for updates because the parcel was getting delayed. Around 15β20 days later, I was told that the parcel had been marked RTO (Return to Origin) from my hometown branch in Assam.
When I first contacted the Assam branch, they denied everything and said there was no issue from their side. Later, when I physically visited the office myself, they admitted it WAS their mistake and assured me they would fix it.
That was months ago.
Apparently, the assistant manager from Assam and the Roorkee branch manager have been emailing each other, but the whole issue got stuck because both branches are arguing over who will bear the shipping charges to resend the parcel.
Meanwhile, Iβm the one suffering for THEIR mistake.
I had already paid a huge amount once, so I refused to pay again. But after months of waiting and frustration, I finally gave up and agreed to pay HALF the amount just so I could finally get my belongings back.
And still⦠nothing.
No parcel.
No callback.
No proper response.
# No accountability.
Customer care has honestly been one of the worst parts of this experience. Every single person either transfers the blame or tells me to βwaitβ. It has now been FIVE MONTHS and my belongings are still stuck because two DTDC branches cannot sort out an issue THEY created.
I genuinely donβt know what to do anymore, so if anyone here has dealt with something similar or knows how to escalate this properly, please help me out.
1. Is there a higher DTDC authority that actually responds?
2. Should I post this on Twitter/X and tag them publicly?
3. Is there any legal action I can take?
And if this post reaches people somehow, thank you for even reading this far. I just want my parcel back.
