It may or maynot be a scam as they are asking for appearance but before going ask him to send 41A notice for appearance. -

April 24, 2025 at 10:56 amPlease visit TAFCOP website –
https://tafcop.sancharsaathi.gov.in/telecomUser/Enter your dad’s number, the captcha and OTP.
You should see all then numbers registered in your dad’s name.
This should give you a clear picture of what’s happening.
Search for the number they called from on Google, also the police will never call from their phone. Nor will they intimate someone like this in an active investigation.
They will first deal with their local counterparts in Nagpur and ensure your address is visited.
This is a scam.

April 24, 2025 at 12:21 pmIs the information provided in this site accurate? I lost one of my sim and didn’t bother to close the number but it’s not showing here. It’s been more than a year since this happened-

April 24, 2025 at 12:26 pmSince it’s been more than a year, the number may have been reassigned to someone else. And thus won’t show up.I have some older connection of my family, that are on my name, that don’t show up at all.
But any new connection, recent ones (in the past 2 years) show up pretty quickly.
I got a JIO sim for my tablet a couple months ago, and I just checked and it’s there.

April 24, 2025 at 1:54 pmHow does this work…You have a number, you enter the number
The site will say aah this is your number, how will it know that your name is tied to another number…?

April 24, 2025 at 2:02 pmThat’s TAFCOP or _Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection_It is a government portal, managed by the Department of Telecom
So when you enter your number, you’re supposed to also enter the OTP to confirm your number.
The system then detects the Aadhaar in the backend and every other number registered under that Aadhaar is shown (with some obfuscation).

April 24, 2025 at 3:34 pm> The system then detects the Aadhaar in the backend and every other number registered under that Aadhaar is shownSorry but this isn’t working for me. I have a primary number (for 15+ yrs) which is linked to my aadhar. Based on my aadhar, I got a secondary number around 6-7 yrs ago. When I login to the website you linked using either of the numbers, the other number is not displayed.
Kind of a neat idea on paper, but it either isn’t working as intended, or still needs updation of data.

April 24, 2025 at 4:00 pmThis is purely conjecture, but there seems to be a disconnect because your primary number isn’t Aadhaar authenticated with the provider. So when you login with your primary number, it doesn’t have an Aadhaar attached to it, so it’s unable to discover your second number.
When you login with your secondary number, your first one doesn’t show up because it doesn’t fall in the same Aadhaar bracket.

April 24, 2025 at 4:31 pmYeah you may be right about my primary number not being Aadhaar authenticated with the provider. But my primary number is linked to my aadhar, and I always receive aadharOTP on my primary number without any issues, so I don’t know what additional authentication they require from the provider.
I still think that logging into the website with the number linked to an aadhar should ideally list all the other numbers obtained using that aadhar. That’s literally what we’re trying to do here, aren’t we? Trying to find if someone else used my aadhar card to obtain a number without my knowledge?

April 24, 2025 at 4:40 pmI understand your point. The reason for this could be that the TAFCOP system works with carrier data only. Not the Aadhaar biometric data.So when different service providers share the UIDAI number on record, the system merges the databases and runs a search for all the phone numbers with the same Aadhaar on record to form a cluster.
This data changes everyday with thousands of disconnections, reconnections and new connection across the country.
—
Linking with just the Aadhaar database could prove counter-productive. Because it’s not uncommon for Aadhaar of young children to be on their parent’s phones. Nor is it uncommon for ageing, illiterate folks to have their kids’ secondary number as the base number on Aadhaar.
It’s also not uncommon for children to have numbers from their teenage in the name of their parents. And then not changing the names well into adulthood.
So their phones are their primary number for all Aadhaar OTP, but according to the carrier – their phones are in their dad/mom/elder sibling’s name.
This would prove to be a conflict in the database.
Also, sooner or later every number will go through some sort of reverification. Either for replacing damaged sim cards, lost sim cards, conversion to esims, upgrading sims etc.
So this disparity will gradually disappear.

April 24, 2025 at 11:10 amJust visit the sanchar sathi website and put a number registered with your dad’s aadhar and put otp and Captcha. You will get a list of all the numbers registered with your dad’s name. If you find an unknown number, then maybe look into this. Otherwise, it’s a scam. BTW, you can simply de reigister that number from the list as well. -

April 24, 2025 at 12:23 pmThat sounds really scary, and itโs good that youโre being alert , many scams do happen in the name of the police. Please donโt let your father go anywhere without verifying everything. Call the official Mumbai Colaba Police Station number (not the one that called you), and report the incident. Also file a complaint with your local police in Nagpur. -

April 24, 2025 at 3:15 pmLooks like a SCAMOnly Aadhar card no cannot get you SIM
person at mobile shop does your BioMetric too and only after its successful; application is accepted
experts can correct me If that procedure is changed or modified recently
Police do not call and reveal info; they always ask you to visit respective police station
informing you there is a complaint against you or so on
then you can always go to Mumbai police website and verify said persons credentials
BTW
I feel some of these fraudulent recovery agencies too are involved in providing people mobile numbers
RBI DP twitter/X scam is enough to take such suspicion’s
Strange thing is Indian Government is not having a very rapid action Cyber Cell to curb scamsters as early as possible
