April 24, 2025 at 5:21 amDears, I went to a beauty parlor for facial treatment and they dropped BOILING WATER on my face, it is burnt really badly (pics attached in comment). The owner had told she will pay my medical bills but now backed off. What are my options to deal with this?
I’M WORRIED, MY FACE IS SCARRED FOR LIFE, HUGE SCAREDIT: THANK YOU everyone for taking time to respond to my posts through comments as well as the DMs. I have come to a conclusion that filing a legal case and getting a lawyer to draft legal notices to the parlor is more expensive than my actual medical bills (which is around 5-6k). I am not in a position to pursue/afford this right now. (Also, the fact that I am not in India, I had a flight booked and had to travel, won’t help my legal case.) But I will be filing a complaint with the Consumer Forum as suggested by some of you. I’ll keep this thread updated as much I possibly can.
Really appreciate the responses! -

April 24, 2025 at 5:51 amLawyer here. You have a right to recover compensation in the form of either money or treatment along with added compensation for your mental agony. Ive had seen similar cases in past and you have a strong case, provided if you pursue it diligently.-

April 26, 2025 at 5:45 amJust read your updated version of post. However i would like to clarify that your physical presence would not be required and secondly lawyer fee is not an issue to be bothered about as well. Last but not the least, you could very well claim additional damages and not just your medical expenses.-

May 2, 2025 at 7:31 amthank you for this input ๐ I had decided to sue them if police complaint didn’t help. Turns out the owner paid up as soon as the police got involved.

April 24, 2025 at 6:51 amIs this a chain store? Nevertheless, you should sue them and get compensation for not only the treatment, but also for the pain & inconvenience, opportunity loss, waste of time..everything-

May 1, 2025 at 9:38 amLawyer here, dealt with such cases before Consumer commissionsFirst
If you have the bill and everything
File a complaint before consumer commission of your district, you can get the draft from internet and use chat gpt for drafting if you are doing it on your own.
Yes, you can fight your own case but engaging a lawyer would be better who deals in consumer. You have to pay zero court fees for filing this caseAnd dont delay
Atleast file it so that you can show the intent and yeah to stay within limitation periodDont worry court is not harsh on bad drafting or language, you can present your case in Hindi as well
