March 12, 2025 at 7:51 amThe situation began in October when I started building a new house. Recently, I got to know that a fine has been imposed on my neighbour for sharing electricity with me. I visited their office to discuss the matter, and the total fine was 3.5 lakhs. They claimed that my neighbor had been sharing electricity with me for an entire year however it’s been just 5 months since the start of construction. Is there anything I can do to reduce the fine and will the amount be lowered if I prove that the electricity was shared just for 5 months?

March 12, 2025 at 8:43 amYou violated the rules and was stealing electricity. Electricity connection for household use is not supposed to be used for commercial/construction purposes.
Pay fine and move on. -

March 12, 2025 at 9:54 amI think was calculated by taking the total units of electricity used by my neighbour and multiplying it by 14rs per unit-

March 12, 2025 at 2:18 pmElectricity rates for households and commercial work are different. Also, using house electricity for commercial activities is illegal, hence the fine on your neighbour.

March 12, 2025 at 1:59 pmDon’t pay it
If you want to lower it you can speak to higher officials if it still doesn’t work
File a case ,once the case comes on board speak with the opposition lawyer for settlement .
Else amnesty scheme some years later
Till then the case will keep going on -
