Hi everyone, I’m reaching out for urgent help with a serious issue my family is facing. We’ve been slapped with an outrageous electricity bill F3,10,090 for our home in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, supposedly covering the period from 1997 to 2025. We’ve never received any prior bills for this, and when we approached the officials, they demanded full payment without any explanation.

To make matters worse, our electricity has been disconnected for the last 15 days, which has turned our lives upside down- disrupting our family’s well-being and my ability to work. Before 2014-15, the electricity supply in our area was patchy at best, and now we’re being asked to pay this insane amount that we simply cannot afford.

It feels completely unfair and unjust. We desperately need help to get our electricity restored and sort out this billing nightmare. If anyone here has advice, experience with something similar, or knows who we can turn to for support, l’d be incredibly grateful. Any assistance or guidance would mean the world to us right now. No, we never received any bills there was no way to pay any bill. When we reached out for this they simply gave us this bill and disconnected our electricity

So the bill was generated against?? You know you need a meter number or connection / consumer number. Something like that.
So you don’t have a meter. You don’t have a connection. You never paid the bill ever.

You know what it sounds like, right? Electricity theft.

And no one found this strange, electricity without bills ?? The best possible solution is to negotiate for a settlement for a lower amount and convert it into installnents, I think they do provide this option

You can try appealing this but it will take too long

blud was stealing electricity , same thing happened with my househelp too she took a loan to pay the bill and later repayed the loan using EMI

You can ask them to convert it into emi so it would be convenient for you

I calculated that it’s around 1000 per month from 1997 but we started to get regular electricity after 2016-17 how is this possible i have no idea. IN 1997 we hardly had 1 hour of light.

Price was never the same,the unit price , inflation,along with interest and late fine has resulted in this amount,I suggest you pay this amount by emi or upfront if you can afford it,it’s a crime to steal electricity,using it for free without meters
