A government body (NIC)took 2 years for conducting exam and interview AND after declaring result cancelled the recruitment process

So for nic ( an organisation under ministry of electronic and IT )scientist c and d recruitment was published in October 2022. They took exam in March 2023 and interview in January 2024. There was no malpractice in exam nor any discrepancy. However , after keeping things pending for an year now they cancelled the recruitment process of scientist c and d . However they took scientist e and f from the same notification. Can we file case against nic stating that after completing all the formalities they are now cancelled an all India level exam .

You can make a complain on CPGRAM.

Somebody screwed up. Probably the HR department. They either tried to commit nepotism or take bribe and someone squealed. The department probably then decided to cancel the whole thing instead of getting further into trouble

Sometimes they conduct exam with one recruitment rule and by the time you join and be on the verge of getting promoted they will change your recruitment rule and deny you promotion.

For example when you wrote exam for recruitment to a particular post, then as per recruitment rule, next promotion would be due in 3 years. But after you join and complete 2.5 years of service, they will revise recruitment rule from 3 years to 10 years. So now you will have to spend a decade for your promotion

Why you wasting your precious time after such job. Exam 2 yrs after form form fill up !!!

Please dump this job , just take any job and start working. you may got promotion in 2 years or switched other jobs increasing salary or a experience certificate.

I already have other job , but this one was gazetted scientific job ( level 11) with many perks. That is why .

Lawyer here, if you go through their notification you will find a clause saying that ‘they can without any notice can cancel this recruitment altogether or whatever they feel fit’ etc etc.
You have agreed to this clause and have applied for it.
Almost every government job notification has this.
It is important to read all the documents carefully. So you just have to let this one go.

There was no cancellation clause and there was nothing related to cancellation mentioned on recruitment notification.

We filed a case in cat delhi , writ petition in highcourt cancelled.
Cat asked them to clarify reasons that recruitment cancellation is not arbitrary. Also refund all fees .

If found arbitrary, then court will reinstate the recruitment

Hello sir any update in this regard. NIC has published the suo moto declaration on 1 April 2025 stating the reason for cancellation that “However, the dossiers of the candidates received from the recruitment agency revealed that majority of the candidates in the provisional merit list do not fulfil the requisite Qualitative Requirements (QR) for the advertised posts of Scientist-C and Scientist-D.  “

Sir if that was the case, they may filter out the ineligible candidates and select the eligible candidates rather cancelling the entire process since all posts recruitment was handled by the same agency NIELIT.
