My father used to do business with this man and for security reasons he asked a blank cheque and was with him for many years. After covid my father lost his previous business and moved on but suddenly that guy filed a case and is asking for 10lakhs just because he has a blank cheque (i literally don’t know how this thing works I’m just 19 with medical background). So it has been an year almost and my father is too innocent to handle this and is settling the amount for around 6-7 lakhs with him. Being from a lower middle class family with loss in business after covid my family cannot afford this huge ammount. We cannot take a loan because we have taken some already. I just want to screw up that guy but I’m unaware of how to tackle this. I’m a neet aspirant with exam three months ahead. This is literally disturbing my studies. Can someone help me out on how can this be solved without giving tha money? If possible
Also the check is on my mother’s name. Dumb question but will she be get arrested for any of this? I’m shit scared idk why

Since it’s on your mother name, if you mother is illiterate you can always play that card saying that guy fooled your mother innocence and is now trying to extort.
with women in Picture there are chances you can get away without paying money. You can also use assault, molestation etc against him since women is involved.
Please don’t take this the wrong way I know you are good people and don’t ever want to misuse laws but time demands.

UMy father would never allow to do this 🥲🥲 He’s planning to sell out home and buy another with the money we’re left and pay him and get this matter done but I’m against this

Personal or Company cheque? Was the cheque bounced? Is there a court case? Do your father own any money? How much money?

UPersonal cheque on my mother’s name. My father’s business wasn’t registerd as a company.
The check wasn’t bounced because he never applied it to the bank.
Own or owe money to him? He doesn’t owe any money to that man. And we cannot pay him without selling the place where we’re living in.
Also, do people get arrested in these cases? I’m scared for my mother.

File an quashing before High Court.

Yes, people do get arrested but only when essentials of cheque bounce are satisfied.
PS: Either the person has no idea what kind of case is on going or hiding some details
