UI am in a bit of a pickle here. So there is a minor error in my middle name in my Aadhar card (for eg. XTZ instead of XYZ), for which I have made a gazette notification and and affidavit stating that XTZ and XYZ are the same.
Now, because of that mistake in my Aadhar card, every other identity proof I have like pan card and voter which is linked to my Aadhar card reflects XTZ. however my Pan card doesn’t display my middle name because I chose that option since i didnt want the wrong spelling to be displayed.
When I go to the aadhar centre to correct my name, I give them the gazette notification but they ask for a POI (my pan card) along with that and send me back saying my pan card doesn’t have my middle name so we cant process your request.
But even if i change my pan card to display my full name, it would be the same wrong spelling that my aadhar card has(XTZ). So will they send me back again saying the Pan card doesn’t have the right name (XYZ) either?
And, if i want to change my PAN name to XYZ, it asks for Aadhar card bc they are linked. It’s like a never ending loop. If i wanna change my aadhar i need my pan, but if i wanna change my pan i need my aadhar.
Please help me out i have been in and out of government offices and third party agencies countless number of times. It’s frustrating, why is every single government service so uncooperative?
and before anyone asks, i don’t have any other identity proof that shows the correct spelling, hence why i want to update my aadhar card so i can make the necessary changes in other documents.

UI am not sure but i think the issue was not that they need a POI with correct name, but that your POI doesn’t match your existing aadhar card.
If it was the case that your POI should show the new name then no one will be able to change their names.

Uon my way back from the centre right now as i type this, its done i hope its not rejected but yesss they accepted it

Ui hope you must have scanned 3 pages , 1st page of gazz , the page on which your name change is mentioned and 3rd is old PoI. All 3 makes it complete. Quick Tip : If you dont have old poi handy in case of minors or adult , you can generate abha card ( health card ) instantly from aadhaar card otp from abha site. Its valid under Photo ID issued by central Govt / State Govt Category.

RBro I updated my aadhar added surname with gazzete notification how many days it would take change.. one more thing i never updated my name in aadhar but it still shows zero update left ( you can change your name twice in aadhar) i checked my aadhar update history it shows my name was never changed. I went Aaadhar seva kendra they scanned gazzete and Poi and asked me to send an email … I need it urgently is there any way to expedite the process.

QThen How am I supposed to correct my aadhar name if every other document has my corrected name except name. So u are saying I need to get my name wrong in one of the document inorder to fix it in aadhar? Help me, I need to correct my name in aadhar

QI visited the 2 only centres available in my city. The first one said, name correction is stopped since 6 months.
Here’s the catch :-
I have wrong dob and an incorrect name(inclusion of middle name in aadhar) in aadhar. Every other document I have has my correct name(First name+Last Name) and date of birth.I visited the second centre, and the guy said me that he will pan card with correct name+ bank passbook to correct aadhar. I don’t have PAN card(how am I supposed to make pan card with correct name while my name is wrong in aadhar). So I asked him if he could change dob. So I gave him 10th marksheet but my application got rejected. Maybe it was due to name mismatch. Idk what to do, I am stuck. The first centre asked me to visit regional centre which is 400km+ from here

UHave you checked out at the post offices? Many post offices also provide aadhar update facility. You can find the list from india post website. What other documents do you have with correct name?

QYes sir. I visited the 2 india post offices that has aadhar centres in them. And I have correct name and dob in every other document. Only aadhar has wrong dob and name

UOkay I see so the 400km+ regional office you’re talking about is the Aadhar Seva Kendra? I seem to have thought that those 2 offices were seva kendra and regional office is something else 🫠🫠

UNowadays they started putting ALIAS in birth name correction. If your old name is X Y Z and new name is A , then corrected birth certificate would be X alias A Y Z . Please confirm this at local Bith And Death office before making any change. For Aadhaar name change ( Major ) Gazette notification is required now.

BNot correct, I just got my kids birth certificate updated due to change in format by government notification for aadhar.

UOk, lucky you. State where I stay is putting ALIAS compulsary. I had to enroll aadhaar with ALIAS in the name. Now struggling to name change. According UIDAI website document list , For Complete Name Change , Gazette is required Along with Old PoI.

UYes you can. As it is issued by central goverment. Use it as last resort if you dont have any id of old name probably in case of age < 5.
