May 5, 2025 at 6:49 pmHi guys,I met with an accident while me and my parents were driving back home on my car from a function on a state highway near Ottapalam, Palakkad, Kerala.
You can refer to the attached CCTC footage I sourced from a nearby home, along with damages to my car.
The bike rider swerved into my lane and hit me out of nowhere. He isnβt wearing a helmet, no indicator and using his phone (can be noticed if you watch the CCTV footage very carefully). When I checked his bike registration number on parivahan website, it says blocked/blacklisted (attached SS)
I complained at the Police Station and they asked me to speak with him and come to a settlement. He said he isnβt in a condition to pay and ask me to proceed legally. The police station took a written complaint and said that they will call the person for their statement after which they will conduct an investigation.
My car is still lying on the side of the road and I donβt see any hope in being compensated. How do I proceed?

May 5, 2025 at 7:14 pmTry to settle it offline or get it from your insurance company.I had something similar experience when driving my car.. and it was bike wala’s mistake. They said they will pay and after I sent them the garage bill they denied paying.
Later I went to Police. He said if no one is hurt then better to take from our own insurance.. file a claim and attach the bills and damage report.
If a complaint is registered then usually the car will stay at police station for months.
