Ntook delivery of my new car at 6 PM, completed the pooja, dropped my mom at home, and was heading to my place. Around 11 PM, while passing through a crowded crossroads, a Tempo Traveller hit my car from behind. The damage was minor—a small dent—but since the car was brand new, I was understandably upset.
In the heat of the moment, I lost my cool and hit the driver (just once) but quickly regained composure. I spoke with his supervisor/manager, and they initially agreed to settle the damage in cash if it was under ₹5,000; otherwise, they would go through insurance. I accepted this.
Now, they’re saying their company HR has approved only ₹2,000, and they won’t pay anything beyond that.
Given this situation, what legal options do I have? Can I still hold them accountable for the full repair cost? Would the fact that I hit the driver complicate things legally? Looking for expert advice on how to proceed.

What exactly would it cost you ? Considering that you mention that the damage was minor, it would undoubtedly cost you way more in legal fees, hassles and mental stress than repairing it.
The fact that they are willing to pay you 2000 ruppees is I would consider a good gesture already. Don’t forget your hitting the driver would likely be a crime of assault. -

Consider yourself lucky that they didn’t hit back. Take what they are offering before they increase the slap discount or slap you back with an assault case.-
NI am sure they can’t hit me back even if I go to their office, if they do transporter won’t be able to ply any vehicle or do business again in that area.

NOP, the tempo hitting your car was an accident. You hitting the Driver was not. You caused a bigger crime than the Driver. We live among idiots that won’t think twice before killing, that’s why I said you’re lucky. Considering you hit them, lose the tough guy attitude and settle for what they are offering.

Dude if the repairs are coating more threaten them you will file and case and openly share in social media .
But be sure they don’t play reverse case that you assaulted that driver and be very cautious of the driver is sc,st community then they will play their cards .
Or else tell them to use insurance.

NI do have insurance, rather than accepting the fault or saying it was accident that fellow driver saying it was my fault for driving slow in that traffic.

UIf you do believe in communication, why did you hit? Couldn’t you have communicated your frustration verbally?

NWhat I did is wrong , should never happen rather it is considered as offence which I am fully aware of. I feel it happened in hit of the moment and for the first time. (In my 15+ yrs driving)

BThe moment you use violence against a person, you lose the higher ground. Now a simple traffic collision turns into an assault. The company can get the driver to file an assault charge along if SC/ST charge if the driver was SC/ST. then your chacha can also not help you out getting out of jail for sometime.
Resolve disputes with calm. Fender bender is part of life here in India.
