DSo basically I met with an accident with Police car yesterday. It happened because other vehicle (Zen/Alto) dashed me forcing me to fall on Police vehicle. And he ( zen/alto) dragged me for some distance due to which police car had a long scratch at right rear quarter. After this happened I pulled over my bike but that Alto guy fled away. I didn’t even noted his number.
After all this, the Police vehicle driver and lady officer which was seated in car started blaming me that I was at fault and I have to pay for their damage. My bike is also damaged from both sides, as I was sandwiched between two vehicles.
That lady officer (ACP) said that we will file legal complaint and claim the insurance from my Third party insurance.
I need help regarding this. I don’t want a legal complaint against me as I am preparing for UPSC exam and I fear this will create problem sometime in future.
Also, police said they don’t insure Police car as they don’t have policy to insure their own vehicle. Is it true?
They also said if I don’t want legal complaint, then repair that damage from my money. But here I am not at fault to pay for their damage which was caused by mistake of someone else. Rather than finding that Alto owner they are expecting me to pay/repair their car.Please help what should I do now?

AThe police car may not have own damage insurance and your insurer will probably not pay for third party damage without a complaint. If the police vehicle didn’t have valid third party insurance, you do have some leverage.
You could file a complaint against the Alto driver and the police, but , unless you have concrete proof like CCTV footage, it is your word against the ACP. If you don’t have the appetite for a long court battle, you might want to think about settling the matter.

RDon’t worry. It’s not a capital crime of some sort. It’s a simple thing. Let them proceed accordingly. Share your insurance details and let them proceed. They also know what comes out of it. I remember once a commissioner’s car rear ended an auto which in turn read ended my car. The commissioner requested me to come sort it over a tea and asked me to have a “big heart”. I was like why don’t you guys have a “big heart” while dispensing challans to us. Anyways long story short the driver was old and I didn’t care much about the damage because I have a zero depreciation insurance from a provider that will ensure me hassle free claims anytime I want (inside connection) so I let the incident go. The crux of the matter is to let the law take its course. Even the ACP knows he will be tired/ transferred/ retired before anything comes out of it.

PGo to the nearest police station *yourself* and file a formal report (an FIR or at least a General Diary entry) detailing exactly what happened – that the Alto hit you first, causing you to collide with the police vehicle, and then fled the scene (a hit-and-run). This officially records your version of events. Do not pay any money directly to the police for repairs, as this is improper procedure and could imply guilt; any claims must go through official channels and insurance. Contrary to what they might have said, government vehicles, including police vehicles, are required by law to have at least third-party insurance. Inform your own bike insurance company about the accident immediately, providing details from your police report.

DAlmost all the govt vehicles ply with no insurance as the govt wants to save money. This happened with me once as I rear ended a govt vehicle. They were fighting with me about damages and I told them I have the insurance and thats when the govt driver said his car doesnt have insurance. I asked him to file a complaint and both our vehicles would be impounded. Then he went away. 😂

Yes it is true that government vehicles like police vans and military jeeps are not insured and Union of India takes care of that. You should file an FIR for the said accident and if you have some injuries you can get the compensation from MACT.
It is the duty of police to proceed against the accused and not the victim.
I suggest you to collect all your medical documents and whatever expenses you are incurring
