UI was using my bench press machine. And for my own safety if somehow I can’t lift the barbell so I could unrack on my own I didn’t clip it. I usually do this at other gyms when I don’t have a spotter.My brother had the same incident at the gym only that he didn’t break the glass because he knew the glass was so close so he struggled to unrack it and got stuck under the barbell. So someone noticed him being stuck and gave him quick assistance.
While lifting I got exhausted and had to unrack it orelse I would have gotten stuck. My plates hit the mirror and cracked it at its bottom. I know it was my mistake. The gym owner said that this happened three times before and that the client paid the full amount for the repairs. My question is, if this has happened more than 3 times why aren’t they changing the equipment location? No one goes to the gym to intentionally damage their property. If the same has happened more than 3 times it’s a pattern and negligence on their part too as I understand. They are asking me to cover the whole bill and said that last time they took 15K.

UNo the manager started behaving rudely. I didn’t want to create anymore scene because my father was also present there. And before I could start arguing about money my father came into terms with their request and paid 10K. Even I wasn’t able to hold a proper composure talking to the manager so I came out and let my father talk. They reduced it to 10K only after I left. I feel awful 😞

AIn my gym, I accidentally completely shattered an entire wall mirror while deadlifting. The owner never charged me a penny. Another dude broke another mirror, he was still chill about it

SThey should have insurance. You’re using the facilities as you should, not clipping when not using a spotter is common. Don’t pay. Record evidence that it has happened three times prior to this, and then you have proof that it’s happening because of a design fault.

UEnquiring them to show me their insurance policy just led to an argument. They started arguing there is no insurance for that and that only the gym equipment damage cost is covered. Evidence of them saying it 3 times is not recorded. But the proximity of the equipment and damage is there. There is nothing I can do now though. Cash has already been paid. And if I raise a complaint, I am afraid my membership might get cancelled.

HUse safety bars in the rack idiot. Leave alone the damaged glass, you can damage your ribs or throat.
