January 14, 2025 at 9:34 amI never subscribed to any of the services with my consent. EVERYTHING happened without my consent or knowledge. Airtel converted my prepaid SIM with existing packages to a postpaid SIM and burdened me with huge, expensive postpaid charges that I never subscribed to, wanted, or used. They even added additional expensive ISD roaming/international charges without my consent. This started in October. I contacted them immediately, and they told me to wait for 90 days to reconvert to prepaid and pay those charges for the services. Alternatively, they asked me to pay a huge amount to convert back immediately.
Since then, Airtel has not provided any resolution. Their customer care is extremely rude and harsh, insisting that the charges are valid and cannot be refunded. EVERYTHING happened without my consent or prior knowledge. No SMS, call, or notification was sent to me while the expensive bills were running in the background. I only found out when I checked the Airtel app.
I have been contacting and emailing back and forth since October, but Airtel still hasn’t resolved the issue. I also filed a complaint with the Consumer Forum, but Airtel responded there as well, claiming that the charges are valid.
I’ve already paid bills for the last two months, including huge ISD charges, but now they are asking me to pay another bill. They also require me to visit their store with all documents to reconvert my SIM, which I didn’t ask for in the first place.
Should I go for a legal notice? Will they just deny it again? I am considering using the Online Legal India platform or directly filing through E-jagriti/E-daakhil Petition. What should I do?
I’m completely tired at this point.

January 14, 2025 at 9:55 amI informed them immediately they told me to wait for 90days , only after that I could convert it to prepaid. Pay bills for 90days or pay some 2k+ charges to convert from postpaid to prepaid with all the hassle of documents and so on.-

January 14, 2025 at 9:59 amI already registered on NCH, they responded that all the charges are valid and they won’t refund. I don’t know about PG though. Online Lawyers platform advised me to go for legal notice, but I think they would completely ignore it so I’m not wasting money on it. Should I go for petition?-

January 14, 2025 at 11:14 amNCH is not a consumer forum. You can raise a complaint to the telecom appellate. You can find the details of it airtels website itself. If no resolution, file legal complaint in consumer court via edaakhil-

January 14, 2025 at 12:01 pmLawyer here. You can approach a lawyer and ask him to issue a legal notice to Airtel. If they still do not back down, file a Consumer Complaint. You will get your money back along with compensation.
Also, these online portals are more or less useless. Noting will happen unless you file a Consumer Complaint against them. When you file your Compliant, there is a 90% chance Airtel will settle. (It is possible that the case may be settled by simply issuing notice as well). These cases are not worth engaging a lawyer for them. They will have to spend a significant amount to defend themselves.

January 14, 2025 at 12:42 pmActually I’m too confused about filing a legal notice through lawyer, I thought I will waste more money if Airtel didn’t respond or again say all charges are valid like they did in Consumer Portal. This is what they responded previously:Dear Mr. Saif , This is in reference to your complaint to NCH vide reference number 661***, wherein you have complained regarding billing related concern for Airtel mobile number *******. We apologize for the inconvenience that you have been facing due to your highlighted concern. We understand how upsetting this must be and we appreciate your patience in this matter.
Further, we would like to inform you that post validation of our records we have found that all the levied charges are valid and correct as per the usage initiated at your end. Hence, we are infeasible to provide you any adjustment for the same. If you have any further queries/concerns, please feel free to contact us. We will make every effort to revert with a resolution as soon as possible.

January 14, 2025 at 12:47 pmFirstly, the Consumer Portal is pretty much useless. You can however use their response against them before the Consumer Forum. I would advise you to immediately port your number if that is possible. Jio is usually the fastest and you can port your number the very same day. This will stop further charges on your postpaid account. After that, issue a Letter or a Legal Notice to Airtel. If you want your money back, then you will have to approach the Consumer Court or a Civil Court.

January 14, 2025 at 1:42 pmWill legal notice work, should I go for it or directly Consumer Court or petition ? As I will lose more money for the lawyer and notice if it didn’t work out. Give your advice, what should I do ?-

January 14, 2025 at 5:48 pmWell. You are entitled to reasonable legal fees after the end of the proceedings if you win. However it is not a significant amount. It all depends on how much you are claiming.
If you feel the amount isn’t worth it, just take the loss and move on.-

January 14, 2025 at 5:49 pmIn such a case, however, if you have limited funds, I would say go directly for a Complaint. -
