April 8, 2025 at 10:15 amGuys, this is very serious. I ordered a pair of shoes using my mother’s Ajio account. Yesterday, my mom received a call from an unknown number, but we didn’t think much of it since it’s common to get spam calls.Today, I contacted Ajio customer care regarding my order because I wanted to update the contact number from my mom’s to mine. Later, I received a call from the same number that had called my mom.
Here’s the strange part: my mom had chosen Hindi as her preferred language on Ajio, and the call she received was in Hindi. I had chosen English, and the call I received was in English. That can’t be a coincidence.
idk if it’s the right sub

April 8, 2025 at 12:51 pmNo, not ambani . This phrase ‘Data is the new Oil’ is attributed to British mathematician Clive Humpby, who coined it in 2006 . Do look it up.-

April 8, 2025 at 2:50 pmDon’t be surprised. Just a normal thing. I get so many such calls a day. Better if you can buy a different sim and use it only for such otp purposes and one only for official and calling purposes. Or just install truecaller and ignore them. -

April 8, 2025 at 3:29 pmSeriously do we care? Indians are generally not very concerned about digital privacy. A recent example is the Gilibi-style trend using ChatGPT, where people unknowingly shared their facial images, contributing to facial data collection by ChatGPT -

April 9, 2025 at 5:21 amI ordered a geyser from amazon and the brand name was ‘activa’. I received a faulty one, initiated replacement, got a call from the so called activa brand asking for details as to why a replacement is required and the approved tbe replacement request and informed me the timeframe. Amazon person delivered a working one and picked up the faulty one. A week later I received a call at 9 AM from a female saying : sir apne activa ka geyser kharida tha ? I said yes, she said is it working fine now ? I said yes as of now it is, she said we are calling to assist you to register the product for warranty, I said ok. She said aapne paas abhi ek OTP aye wo mujhe bataiyega, kya aapka number 1234 hi hai ? I confirmed ki yes yehi number hai. Now the OTP received was from Amazon and clearly stated that this is the otp to login to your amazon account, please do not share it with anyone else and no one from amazon will ever ask you for this otp on call or whatever. I told that girl ki ye toh amazon pe login karne ka otp hai, she said, nahi sir ye product ko register karne ka otp hai jo humein chahiye warranty activate karne ke liye. My literal last words to her were : subha subha aur koi nahi mila kya chu#ya banane ko ? And I hung up and reported here number as spam on true caller. Post that I kept wondering who actually sold my details, amazon ? Delivery company ? Delivery guy ? Activa ? Return logistics brand ? Or someone found the dabba I threw away in garbage with my details on it ? -

April 9, 2025 at 6:59 amJust fyi, Jio sells your information too. I switched to a Jio sim and the spam calls & messages started in no time. And so do banks anytime you even inquire about a loan of any sort. Click on a loan advert and watch the spam calls and messages roll in.
Sad state of the country.

April 9, 2025 at 11:59 amOnce I received a call from some hotel something, they invited for the opening. They told me to come with my wife to which I told them am bachelor, can I tag my friend along upon which she said no sir, only wife. I did not intend to go but still I was curious to know why did they approach me. I asked her, I did not sign up for this, where did you get this number from? To which she replied that- “sir, we have an agreement with Big Basket, they shared us the details”. I was like wow, damn. -

April 11, 2025 at 1:21 pmEvery website, supermarket, clothing brand stores, where ever someone asks for your number, you should automatically know that the numbers are going to be sold. You can somewhat avoid this by not giving the number. Not reliable at all times but some places like the supermarket or any stores that don’t really need the number you can just say you’re not interested. Recently they have been starting this new trend saying we will send the invoice/bill to your number where you can download. But you can always choose not to give your number and ask for a physical copy. -
