March 14, 2025 at 8:03 amI was seeing alimony videos of people demanding useless demand, 6L/- month. Can I comeone with a affidavit before marriage that I’ll not take dowry but will also not give alimony if things got south. I think I saw this idea in some insta post or something.

March 14, 2025 at 8:08 amThat strategy does not work. You cannot override a law by signing any document.-

March 14, 2025 at 8:21 amA man can also seek alimony from wife if he is does not have independent income sufficient for sustenance. Also, there are many ways to avoid or reduce the amount of alimony you have to pay. Examples:
1. Prove wife is cheating
2. Prove wife has sufficient income and is financially independent
3. Prove wife has done any form of cruelty
4. Prove you are unemployed and broke

March 14, 2025 at 9:40 amRarely is a man awarded alimony or maintenance. And the 4 points you have given also wouldn’t help if the judge wants to make a certain judgement. The worst flaw of our judiciary is, like the law, the judges too are stereotypical.

March 14, 2025 at 12:51 pmMen rarely receive alimony because they rarely seek it. Moreover, women generally marry men who are financially better off than them, and hence, men generally donβt have the chance to seek alimony. Also, your criticism of the judiciary is your personal opinion. I am stating the law as it stands. If a judge passes an order contradictory to it, such an order would be liable to be set aside in appeal.

March 14, 2025 at 2:12 pm>A man can also seek alimony from wife if he is does not have independent income sufficient for sustenance.Only when he is mentally/physically handicapped to the extent he cannot do any work. Decided judicial precedent. Show me a single case where an able bodied indian man recieved alimony from his wife I dare you
>Prove wife is cheating
Not applicable unless wife is “living in adultery” which is extremely hard to prove and not even true in most cases
>Prove wife has done any form of cruelty
Cruelty is no bar to payment of maintenance. Another decided judicial precedent
>Prove you are unemployed and broke
Again, doesn’t matter if you’re able bodied. Your wife could be a billionaire yet you won’t receive a single rupee in alimony as long you’re able to do ANY work
Half knowledge is more dangerous than ignorance. Don’t comment when you’re unaware of the law and it’s actual application in this regard. You are misguiding others

Structuring your assets in order to pay least alimony starts with the UCC in uttarakhand.

March 14, 2025 at 10:26 amYou seem young, you should know this, out of 100 marriages maybe 5 fail and 3 of them go through mutual divorce and 2 end up being ugly, and you see them on YouTube creates a perception that every man who gets married has to suffer this.Indian laws appear they favour women, but in reality the justice system is designed to torture both men and women.
Don’t overthink it and besides alimony is ordered but there isn’t any strict law to enforce it unless women ruthlessly follow through. Statistically you’re more likely to be beaten to death during a road rage than having to pay alimony. Don’t overthink.

Statistically speaking most people will never be in a car accident. So by your logic one shouldn’t drive properly or be concerned about road safety at all?
Just because there’s a lower chance of something happening doesn’t mean it can’t happen and you don’t consider the possibility at all
Not to mention with each passing day, divorce is on the rise in indian society, especially amongst the urban middle class for whom the rates of divorce are likely already far higher than what you claim
>Indian laws appear they favour women, but in reality the justice system is designed to torture both men and women.
How so? The matrimonial laws clearly favor women by a long shot in every aspect. From alimony to custody to child support. There’s a reason laws like S.498A & S.376 are the most misused in the country. Don’t be delusional

March 15, 2025 at 1:45 amFor every 6L+/- p.m. maintenance demand there are thousands of cases where meagre amount of Rs. 1500-2000/- p.m. are also granted by the court, albeit the income gap between those two instances is day and night. Also, general rule of thumb but not always applicable, 1/3rd of the in hand income is a good guess that the court may grant in terms of monthly maintenance.
So I assume youβre earning upwards of 20L per month to be concerned/affected by such orders/influencing reels?
