January 21, 2025 at 12:47 pmI’m absolutely appalled by what happened to me today. I was expecting an Amazon delivery at the address of my new home. The delivery person called me and said the pin code was wrong and that he wouldn’t be able to deliver the package today. He claimed the pin code was incorrect, even though it had been auto-detected by Amazon.
He then told me he would reschedule the order for tomorrow due to the incorrect pin code and said he was sending me an OTP to confirm the rescheduling. Unfortunately, in my urgency, I gave him the OTP, and that’s where I made a mistake.
The delivery person used the OTP to hack into my Amazon account. When I checked my account to see if the order had been rescheduled, I found it had been canceled. I called the delivery person back, and he acted surprised, pretending not to know why this had happened.
I immediately contacted Amazon customer service through Chat to explain the situation and request the delivery for today. To my shock, the delivery person who hacked my account started chatting with customer service at the same time, trying to cancel the order and even providing his contact number in the chat!
I had a long call with Amazon customer service and even got the delivery person on a conference call. During the call, he admitted to logging into my account. The Amazon representative assured me they would take strict action against him. I also requested that the person be sacked, which I said directly during the conference call.
I’m still in shock over what happened. I’ve changed my account password, but I’m afraid because the delivery person knows my address. I’m worried he might hold a grudge against me if any action is taken against him or if he’s fired.
Should I take further action? Has anyone else experienced something like this? I’m really shaken up and would appreciate advice on what to do next. -

January 21, 2025 at 1:26 pmBhai recording isn’t legal, send this entire thing on email to Amazon executives and then get a confirmation of their course of action on this over the email chain. You’ll have a proof,
I’ve faced issues with Amazon delivery guys (not this serious) but I had to repeat same thing every second month to them and it stopped after I got this communication on email.-

January 21, 2025 at 1:42 pmStupid question but what does the delivery guy stands to gain by canceling the order. He would have to send the package back to Amazon warehouse, right?-

January 21, 2025 at 2:53 pmHow? Unless the package is successfully delivered, he won’t get paid. If the order is canceled before delivery, he won’t get paid.-

January 21, 2025 at 3:44 pmUpdate: I warned him of putting an FIR against him for committing a cyber crime and he called and apologised me stating he has kids and wife and can’t afford to lose his job. I am not sure if i should go ahead and escalate this matter as he’ll surely lose his job if i take things further with amazon. What should i do?-

January 21, 2025 at 3:56 pmNAL, Consult a lawyer, weigh your options. If its worth the hassle then go for it. I believe the case would be against Amazon in this case because the delivery guy is from amazon and represents Amazon in this situation. I still am unsure as to what the delivery agent stands to gain from cancelling the order?-

January 21, 2025 at 4:30 pmThis is a lame excuse to phish into someone’s account and cancel it altogether. If it’s personal reason then that should have been with him and his manager. Please don’t let this incident go unresolved.

January 21, 2025 at 6:07 pmPlease look after ur account and details and think clearly. Amazon is not responsible for u to check address. It might make a suggestion but u need to check ur full address. U r wasting a poor persons time. What that man did is a crime too. Reported him to police if u r scared even u don’t want to file a FIR give a written letter with what wrote here plus his phone number and order number. Ask for :If you want to submit a complaint to the police without filing a formal FIR (First Information Report), you can submit a **”Complaint Letter”** or **”Non-Cognizable Complaint”** to the police station. Upon submission, you can request an official acknowledgment, which is typically called a **”Receiving Copy”** or **”Acknowledgment Receipt.”**
This receipt serves as proof that the police have received your complaint, but it does not initiate a formal criminal investigation like an FIR would. The police may take preliminary action or provide guidance based on the nature of the complaint.
To ensure you receive an acknowledgment, you can:
1. Submit the complaint in writing at the police station and request a stamped receiving copy.
2. Send the complaint via registered post to the police station and retain the postal receipt.
3. File an online complaint through the official police website (if available in your state). If you fear intimidation from the delivery person, you can mention it in your letter and request preventive measures or protection without pursuing an FIR.

January 22, 2025 at 4:49 amI had a similar incident at an urban company. I booked a service, the service person came before starting the work , he has started demanding 200 extra even though I accept , I told him after the end of the service I will pay. After that suddenly he asked the otp. I got sms of login otp donot share. I asked him why you needed my login otp. He started bluffing. I did not tell him the otp. After that service man told me to reschedule the service, i asked why he told It was tough work I was not able to do. Always be cautious .
(Btw On Amazon app you can also enable two step verification. ) for safety precautions
