Ancestral property dispute

My brother and I are joint owners of a house that was previously owned by our father. In his will, our father stated that both of us would equally inherit the property after his death.

I want to sell the house, but my brother is refusing to do so. He neither wants to sell the property nor is he willing to buy my share or sell his share to me.

Since we are co-owners and I want to sell the house, but he is not cooperating, what are my options in this situation?

If negotiations fail, your best legal option is to file a partition suit in the appropriate civil court.

Ancestral property is the property of grandfather or great grandfather.
Fathers property is not Ancestral.

Actually, it was passed on to my father by our grandfather

Lawyer here. You do have various ways to approach this issue, one of them would be to file a suit for partition along with declaration and/or injunction. Although other facts which you haven’t disclosed yet might be taken into consideration as well.
