January 28, 2025 at 9:31 amHello ,For context, this happened in Bangalore. Our car was stationary in peak traffic. A garbage collection van tried to skip traffic and tried to overtake from the left side and hit our car. Thankfully nobody was hurt. Our car suffered damages on the front left bumper, fog lamps and headlights. The van driver shouted and intimidated us and fled the scene before we could recover from the shock.
Thankfully we had dashcams and the entire thing is captured on the camera.
Dear lawyers and people with experience in similar situation, please guide us in what to do next.
Edit for more info:
We have 3rd party insurance and own damages insurance. -

January 28, 2025 at 9:46 amYes. We do have 3rd party and own damages insurance.Since the accident happened through no fault of ours, shouldn’t the repairs be paid for by the Van’s insurance company?

January 28, 2025 at 9:53 amYes, since the driver fled you should file a police complaint. Try to check if there is any cctv footage of the area, that will help you immensely .
