DI am shifting to a new apartment with the house on 5th floor. My society is giving me a couple of rules which seems illegal can you advice
a. Upfront payment of Rs. 5000 for using the lift for moving items into the house
b. Furnitures can’t be carried in the lift and have to be carried on the staircase till 5th floor.

HUnless you own an apartment in that society, you don’t have to worry about these bylaws. However, if you’re renting then contact your landlord and do what he says.

BIf it is new construction and still the society is not registered with muncipallity then its illegal and if its registered with corporation with they can make their own rules but you can negotiate and if you are a tenant ask the owner to follow and if you own you can ask or communicate with other residents/tenants how they have shiffted their household items
