March 22, 2025 at 11:36 amI’m a 22-year-old who applied for a passport from Pune. I received a date for police verification and went to the police station accordingly. During verification, the officer asked me to submit either of my parents’ birth certificates or school leaving certificates. My parents were born in Bihar/Jharkhand, in villages, and they do not have birth certificates, as it was not common during their time. I tried to provide my parents’ school leaving certificates, but the officer insisted that the place of birth must be clearly mentioned on them, which it wasn’t.
As a result, the officer marked my application as “adverse” with the reason: “Could not prove parents’ nationality.”
What should I do now? How can I resolve this issue and proceed with my passport application?
