bayana agreement was signed (under duress) 20 years ago with a third party for a disputed property, now the dispute has settled (for an extremely higher amount) than the bayana agremeent. I do not want to go through the bayana agreement, do I have any recourse? the bayana agreement says that it can be extended without any written agreement (i was very young when I signed this and did not understand what I was doing).

Any extension beyond 12-18 months needs to be explicitly signed on paper.

If not extended officially that way, you are liable to refund the money to buyer.

Courts are unlikely to enforce bayana done 20 years ago and not extended legally.

I am not a lawyer but “can be extended without written agreement” sounds difficult to stand legal ground.

Logically, How to extend? With a verbal agreement if not written? Indian law won’t recognise verbal agreement for property sale.
