So 2 “friends” were living in a flat. I also joined them. We had a history of fighting, so I was trying to be the nice person, take first step to keep the “friendship”. That’s why I had decided to join them. I became a flatmate without documents by just paying deposit. But nothing really changed. I felt disrespected as I felt they used to talk about me in the other room. Make back handed comments, talk rudely and loudly. So I decided to leave the flat again within few months. Now they have not returned my deposit. It’s been more than a year.

It’s on you to try to make amends with people who don’t like you… Let this be a lesson and don’t try to be the bigger person. Today’s world feeds off of your kindness

Take this as a life lesson. Tenancy is not documented, consider money gone. Also, why the desperation to please the people who don’t like you? Amends happen when everyone wants it. Life is not KJo movie set. Consider it a loss and move on.

Bro same thing happened with me!! But it happened to me even when i joined 2 of my best friends (knew them for 4 years) and helped with half the deposit which they promised me to return when I go back to my hometown with their own money.

A month before I was going to leave, they planned and started making excuses about how I’m not keeping the place clean or damaged things when I didn’t do anything. In fact they were the ones who kept the place messy and I used to clean it. Then one day they created a fight situation by throwing away my food and groceries from the fridge. When I asked them why they threw it, they created a scene, fought with me and even told me that they won’t return the deposit because I was rude to them it seems. I got pissed and went to the police station. Then once they knew about it, they tried threatening me again, but I was stubborn and they said they’ll give me the deposit. I made them send it to me on the spot and I vacated the place the same day itself

Ever since this situation, I planned to rent a place with strangers or even friends. It’s better to live alone.
