Beware of PickYourTrail – A Complete Scam!

I recently booked a trip through PickYourTrail, and it turned into a nightmare. I paid around ₹90,000 for a 3-day stay at Dhiffushi Island, Maldives, expecting a decent experience. Instead, what we got was far from luxurious—just a basic hotel that wasn’t worth even a fraction of what we paid.

We were placed at Araamu Holidays and Spa, a 3-star hotel with the following room categories:
        • Basic Room → Deluxe Island View – Balcony
        • Double Occupancy Room → Superior Sea View – Balcony
        • Family Suite → Superior Island View – Balcony

Our invoice clearly stated that we had booked the Superior Island View (Family Suite) (screenshot attached). However, the room we were given was no better than a budget lodge. After investigating, I found that the actual cost of the room was less than ₹5,000 per night (screenshots attached). I even contacted the hotel staff, who provided official tariff rates confirming this scam.

When confronted, PickYourTrail falsely claimed that their pricing structure was different and blamed the hotel, refusing to take responsibility. The truth? They scammed us, plain and simple.

If you’re thinking of booking with them after seeing their Google reviews—DON’T! Most of them are fake and paid.

Do yourself a favor and book directly through Booking.com or MakeMyTrip instead. I have undeniable proof—emails, photos, and videos—to back my claims.

This agency preys on unsuspecting travelers and scams them out of their hard-earned money. Avoid them at all costs.

Can someone please guide me on how to proceed with this?

You didn’t check hotel prices directly first? Anyway, if room category is wrongly given then consumer case can be done.

The hotel room they showed us in pictures while booking was completely different in reality. The issue started right from the time we landed in Maldives. 🥹

even the established ones are crooks, as [this person](https://www.reddit.com/r/india/comments/18ctv47/unscrupulous_sotc_a_cautionary_tale/) elaborates.

Lawyer here. File a consumer complaint for deficiency of services and unfair trade practices under section 35 of consumer protection act.

I too had a really bad experience a couple of days back. I was booking a holiday with my wife to Spain for May. Once I made the initial payment through their app, I get a call from the customer care agent saying I would lose my money as the hotel in Madrid was too far outside the city and the hotel they booked for us in Barcelona was an 8-bed female dormintory.

The main travel agent that emailed me the itinerary refused to take responsbility for the issue, claiming it was an app issue and that he was not responsible for it. He made strange arguments like “You should have cross checked with a human instead of depending on our app”, when the itinerary came through his PYT email. When i raised this, he said it was not me it was the app.

He also claimed “you can escalate, nothing is going to happen”.

After multiple escalations and an email from the PYT owner Hari himself, I still only received an assurance of an 8k refund out of the initial payment of 48k. I am at a complete loss of what to do! Can someone suggest ways to help me please?

I had a very bad experience with Pick Your Trail while planning a trip to Eastern Europe. It was disappointing, and I will never use their services again. I don’t understand how they have such a high rating on Google. I hope more people aren’t scammed by this fraudulent company.
