March 16, 2025 at 1:15 pmI shifted out of my flat on the 22nd of February and still have not received my deposit. The broker has been leading me on constantly, saying he’ll give it to me but he didn’t.When I got pissed off and told him that I will escalate the matter he threatened me, stating that I was the one who voided the contract early and that I should not get one single rupee of my deposit, but because he’s being “nice” he is returning it.
While it is true that I have vacated the flat before the deposit, I had confirmed with both him and the landlord of the possibility of me shifting out early and what will happen to my deposit if I do.
On the chats, the broker clearly states that vacating the flat early will not cause any issue and that my deposit will be handed to me. But now he’s threatening me, saying that I will not get a single rupee.
What can I do? My father’s hounding over me, asking for the deposit but I have no answer and I don’t want him to involve himself in the matter as well.
TLDR: Broker won’t give deposit, I told him I will have to take legal action, he told me he will win the court case because I left before the lock in period, but I have chats showing both him and the owner saying I can leave before the lock-in period.

March 16, 2025 at 1:45 pmDeposit is with broker because the owner has a contract with him and he deals with that. It was stated in the contract that I had a 6 month lock in period, but they let me shift out early.-

March 17, 2025 at 6:37 amSo basically in the agreement, I would not get my security deposit back if I left before the lock in period, but I have written confirmation from both the owner and the broker saying that I can shift out early and that I would get my security deposit back.-
