UI recently vacated a rental apartment in bengaluru which I got via brokers. I had paid 1 month’s rent, 1month’s rent as brokerage and advance amount together to the broker but they didn’t pay the 1 month rent to the owner . Now when I vacated the place , owner deducted the 1 month’s rent along with maintenance charges saying they didn’t receive it from brokers. They took the money from me in cash but I had taken a video of handing over the money to the agent which shows me handing over the money to the agent stating the amount, his face is not visible but his voice and mine are recorded in the video along with video showing me getting down from the atm and handing it over to the agent sitting on his bike. I have given them an ultimatum to return my money by tomorrow . Need advice on how to proceed with this legally.
NB: I have transfered advance, brokerage online so I have proof of the transfer along with the brokers signature in the agreement as witness.

Uthis kind of situation gets messy because the broker ends up sitting in the middle while both tenant and owner think the other side is responsible the part that usually matters later is whether you can clearly show the payment trail and that the broker accepted the money on behalf of the rental arrangement so the video and transfer records could become important together not separately also cash transactions tend to create confusion unless there is some supporting context around them have the brokers responded after you confronted them with the video proof or are they still denying that they received the rent amount from you

UI have shown all proof that the money was given to them by cash as they request along with video evidence while being careful not to invalidate the evidence . The owner clearly stated they have not received the one month’s rent that I gave to the broker . Owner has transfered vback to me the remaining amount deducting one months rent and maintenance charges(which was again one months rent)
