March 19, 2025 at 6:10 pmAs the title says my brother stole mine and my mother’s gold and pawned it. No dues paid. What should I be doing legally. What is the right thing to do. He is a gambler. We have paid and warned 4 times before. Put him on de-addiction once. I can’t think straight and I am so angry. -

March 19, 2025 at 9:11 pmSince the brother pawned the gold in his own name, a police complaint can be filed for theft and criminal breach of trust. If recovery is not possible through the police, a civil suit for repayment can be pursued.

March 20, 2025 at 2:38 pmIs your brother a minor or a major? Regardless, you have the right to reclaim the pawned gold from the pawnbroker, as it was taken without your consent with the intent to steal. You can also file a criminal case against your brother for theft. However, if you wish to maintain your relationship, consider asking him to retrieve the jewellery himself by repaying the pawnbroker instead of involving the police. That said, you are still free to take legal action if necessary.
