February 4, 2025 at 12:03 pmHi
I bought an apartment from this builder from an established company in my town.
They were building a society, and i paid 18L as down payment for an apartment which was being constructed there.
In jan, a few floors of the building were constructed, but the govt stopped it, and broke down whatever was there.
How to get my money back? Theyβve been saying they will get the money back to me, but every time I go they ask for more time.
I have an email of them confirming that they will return the money.
What are my options? What should be my next step? -

February 4, 2025 at 12:09 pm* **Document Everything**: Keep all communication (emails, contracts, receipts) related to your payment and refund.
* **Review Contract**: Check for refund clauses or terms related to delays or cancellations.
* **Send Formal Letter of Demand**: Request a refund within a specified timeframe (e.g., 15 days).Mention legal actions if not resolved.
* **File Complaint with RERA or Consumer Forum**: RERA (if applicable in your area) for unresolved builder issues. Consumer Forum for non-delivery or breach of terms.
* **File Police Complaint (If Necessary)**: If you suspect fraud or criminal negligence, file a police report.
* **Consider Legal Action**: As a last resort, file a case in civil court for a refund and damages.
* **Seek Legal Advice**: Consult a lawyer for tailored advice and next steps. This approach will help you take the necessary actions to resolve the issue.
