Can College Stop Me From Running an Unregistered Business?

Hi Reddit,

I’m a tech student working on small web dev projects (not registered as a business yet) to gain real-world experience. My HOD recently said it’s not allowed, and continuing could affect my placements. She also said I’d need to involve the college and give them credit if I want to monetize.

Is this normal for colleges? Should I stop temporarily, involve them, or find another way? Looking for advice from anyone who’s been in a similar situation.

Ask them to give you research grant or pay for you dev lab equipment cost for giving them a credit.

Dont use any college resources, but technically hostel electricity might also be that.

Dont brag about it or tell ANYONE, someone will report you

I just use a laptop and monitor.
I guess they found out from my WhatsApp business profile.

They just want to highlight college name by taking all credits and standing on your work. Usually, they ask you to register your project under Incubation, and then they support your project by providing funds and other support.
