Can I give complaint to get back money?

I have given money (3 lakhs) by taking gold loan to a friend. He is in Mumbai. He is an HDFC Bank employee and it’s been 3 years, he neither returned the money nor paid the gold loan emi. Whole 3 years I have paid 10,8000 (3000/month) just for gold loan. His phone is reachable and he always says that I don’t have money, I will arrange like that. But never did.
Is there anyway I can get the money back?
I have given cheque while paying, I have whatsapp chats as proof, I have call recordings as well.

Before you involve a lawyer and spend more money on something you should have to spend money on, try a good old fashioned threat and be willing to follow through.

Tell him if he does not pay you back immediately or at least make a payment plan that you will reach out to the HR at his company and inform him of this breech of payment.

That should set a fire under him. If that doesn’t work then get a lawyer to send out a demand.
