April 8, 2025 at 10:59 amI have 2 extra underground parking spots that I bought while purchasing my house. I just got asked by an acquaintance from a neighbouring society if I was interested in selling him one of my parking spots. He’s ready to offer Rs. 3 lakhs for it. I’ll surely check with my society’s management if this is allowed as per society’s rules but first I wanted to know if this is even legally possible or not. For context, my society is in Dwarka, New Delhi. -

April 8, 2025 at 12:19 pmYes OP, later if you decide to sell your house, the parking spot can be a sore spot. I know personally because we are also looking to buy a house rn and we have rejected many because of no dedicated parking. -

April 9, 2025 at 10:17 amYou can ask in your building if anyone wants to rent.Check society rules first. You can’t just randomly rent to anyone. Rental guy must be within society

April 8, 2025 at 4:48 pmNAL1. Parking lots are part of the common area. For example, when a building is painted the parking lot is also painted but you don’t decide the color of the paint. The electricity of the lights in parking area is paid through Maintainance. The price you paid therefore is ALLOCATION of parking space. You don’t own the land in the parking spot. Please correct me is some one knows more.
2, Rent is a good option. But if you need the money upfront – 10 year rent at 2k a month should net you 2.4 lacs. But no “sale” needed.
3. Also will you society allow a non resident car in the basement? I know mine doesn’t. Visitor parking is separate so you’ll have to register his car as yours to the management.
