February 25, 2025 at 2:07 amSo, I have a Samsung phone, and after a software update, green lines appeared on the display. There’s no physical or water damage, and Samsung even provided support earlier, but now they’re refusing to take responsibility.I want to send them a legal notice asking for a free screen replacement or repair. Can I just email it to them, or does it have to be a physical letter? Also, do I need a lawyer, or can I just write and send it myself?
Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Would love to hear any advice or experiences!

February 25, 2025 at 2:22 amI initially reached out to NCH, and the company’s response was, “Explained T&C. Customer’s demand beyond policy.” It seems like they’re specifically targeting devices that are over three years old and rejecting claims based on their policy terms.According to their one-time free screen replacement policy, the device should be repaired before April 30, 2024, and must be under three years old at that time. My device is four years old now, and I got my first green line issue for the second time in October 2024 after a software update.
Even if I take this to a consumer forum, I’d still need a lawyer to fight the case. I also tried filing a case on e-Jagriti, but it requires certain documents that only a lawyer can prepare. So, I just wanted to know—is it possible to proceed without a lawyer in such cases?

February 25, 2025 at 2:22 amIt’s not a legal notice if it’s not coming from a lawyer (:You can do the following:
1. Send your letter, tell them the issue, tell them if it’s not resolved you’ll seek legal recourse.
2. Send a notice through a lawyer.
3. If you want to skip 2. above then you can file a consumer complaint. You don’t require a lawyer to file a consumer complaint. You don’t even need a lawyer to argue it.Is your phone under warranty?

February 25, 2025 at 2:31 amI’ve already reached out to Samsung’s CEO Helpdesk twice before filing a complaint with NCH. They acknowledged that the issue was caused by their software update but refused to provide a free screen replacement, saying they had already given me support earlier. However, that “support” was just a discount on the repair cost, not an actual free screen replacement.Later, when I tried to claim the repair expenses, they logged the request but never processed any reimbursement. Now, when I bring it up, they’re claiming that I already received compensation—when in reality, my refund request was denied, saying it wasn’t possible.
At the time, I thought the green lines wouldn’t appear again, but exactly two years after the repair, they reappeared in the exact same spot.
Even if I file a complaint on e-Jagriti, I’d still need a lawyer to prepare the required documents. So, if you have any other advice on how to handle this, I’d really appreciate it. And thanks for your previous advice!

February 25, 2025 at 3:13 amAnyone can send a legal notice even without a lawyer.“A legal notice is the communication of an entity’s intention of undertaking lawful proceedings against the other following the damage caused to the sender of the legal notice by the recipient. Anyone can send a legal notice to another, whether in their individual capacity or through an authorised representative lawfully capable of doing so, with the help of a lawyer. It typically contains:
The sender’s version of the events that led up to the incident.
Details and description of the incident itself.
The law, the sender relies on in order to claim remedy before the applicable dispute resolution authority.
Allotment of time to the recipient to respond to the legal notice in the manner prescribed by the sender of the notice.
The conveyance of the intention of the sender to bring lawful action against the recipient.”

February 25, 2025 at 3:17 amOf course you can write and send it yourself. But since you’re not a lawyer, your letter will go straight in the bin.I’m sure you’re already communicating with them by email. You changing tracks and sending them the contents of your email in physical letter form means nothing to the other party, especially not a behemoth like Samsung.
