May 8, 2025 at 11:40 amIn India, it is increasingly evident that certain marital laws, while designed to protect, can sometimes be misused leading to prolonged mental, emotional, and financial trauma for one of the parties involved.A close friend of mine, someone Iβve known for over 15 years, is currently entangled in a web of legal battles following an arranged marriage. His wife has filed 7β8 cases, each in different locations, leveraging the law that allows cases to be filed from the womanβs maternal residence. These cases have been ongoing for over 2β3 years.
Despite the smile he wears, I can see he is broken. Working in a service-based firm, he continues only for the sake of his parents, having lost all hope in his own future. His wife, instead of seeking resolution, appears determined to extort money and destroy his life and that of his family.
This is not about gender; itβs about justice. The current system needs a safeguard for men and women alike who find themselves at the receiving end of such unending legal torment.
I strongly urge our legal community and the government to consider implementing divorce insurance a provision that can help protect the mental health, finances, and dignity of individuals caught in these situations. A thoughtful bill in this direction could truly be a landmark step in modernizing and humanizing our judicial system.
Such a policy could change lives helping people move on, heal, and live without the fear of being financially or emotionally destroyed by a broken marriage.
I really don’t want my friend to be another Atul Subhash and Nobody would like to lose a friend in such state.
Any legal person raise this my concern to the supreme court/high court/bar council or chief justice please.

May 8, 2025 at 12:19 pmSo insurance instead of fixing the law? Your friend needs to move out of India or move to a village and be ready to live like a pauper. Also, he needs to mentally prepared to sit in jail for some time. If you own nothing, they can take nothing.-
