UI’m facing an issue and need some advice.
There’s a man (part of a typical Thar driver group) who usually comes to the gym around the time I leave. Today, as I was exiting the building, I saw him parking his car between mine and another vehicle. While doing so, he sideswiped my car.
When I confronted him, he initially accepted that it was his fault. However, he later called his brothers and completely changed his stance, claiming that the accident happened because of how I had parked my car. He is now refusing to pay for the damages.
I checked the CCTV footage, but unfortunately, the camera angles do not cover that parking area, so there is no video evidence. However, there are bystanders and nearby tea stall owners who witnessed the incident.
I’ve had the car inspected, and the mechanic is quoting around ₹25,000–₹30,000 for repairs.
What legal options do I have in this situation? What steps should I take next? Please please please any sort of help will be meaning a lot.

If the vehicle is insured, you may initiate a claim through his insurer or proceed with your own comprehensive policy and let the insurer recover the amount. You also have the option of issuing a legal notice demanding payment, which is often effective in resolving such disputes. As a civil remedy, you also have the option of filing a claim before the MACT for compensation, though for this quantum it may be more time-consuming than beneficial.
