Carpenter took 10.7 lacs and not completing my flat woodwork even after 4 months. Plus demanding 50K additional amount to complete the pending work.

I bought a flat in Hyderabad and gave it to Carpenter for woodwork. The agreed amount was 11 lacs. I have already paid 10.7 lacs 4 months ago. Initial agreement was to hold a balance of 10% which should be given only after the completion of entire flat. But now, he is not only asking to pay everything even before completion but additional 50K ( sighting the reason for laminated I selected are costly ). We have the agreement only on white paper.

Someone advise me on how to come out of this. A delay of month causes me rent of 20K too. 🙁

Do you have the receipt of the payment made to him?
There after go to lawyer and explain him your situation and send a legal notice to the carpenter

Sorry but there is no way you are getting that money back.
You may file a case but he will keep moving his house around and it will be tough for you to find/pin him
