April 29, 2025 at 12:07 pm(This help is required by my friend, I’m posting this on his behalf, please read and help him)Hi, I’m a 20-year-old student, and I urgently need legal advice.
My father, who passed away when I was 14, built wealth from scratch in real estate and bought 3 flats worth ₹3 crores. Since I was a minor, he made my mother the nominee. Now she is the legal owner, and I am an adult. The nominee position is currently vacant.
Lately, my paternal uncles (chachas), whom my father once mentored, are pressuring my mother to nominate someone from their family. They claim it’s for my benefit, but it’s clearly about control. They’ve been manipulating and threatening her emotionally — today they said things like “we’ll do this and that to your son living alone.” My mother fainted from stress and is now in the hospital.
One uncle and five unknown men also came to my rented place asking for me. Thankfully I wasn’t home. They’ve now set a deadline of the 10th for us to nominate them, or they’ll take legal action. I know they don’t have legal rights to the property, but I’m concerned about harassment, threats, and potential legal complications.
What legal steps can I take to:
1. Ensure our safety
2. Prevent harassment
3. Secure the property
Please help — I’m managing this alone and very disturbed.

April 29, 2025 at 12:15 pmIf the property was in your father’s name, then you and your mother are legal heirs to that property. Your chachas doesn’t have any authority or say in those properties. File a complaint in police station against them and see them disappear. Get the property transferred to both of your names and they can’t do shit.-

April 29, 2025 at 12:21 pmMy mother tried to protect the “rishta”, however I am fed up of these goons, so I will do that. Major problem is that my mother and most family is about 350 km away, and all these people have in power is showing up to my house with men to intimidate me, risking my safety.I am currently at another uncle’s house, and will take some people with me to my room, so that’s good, however I don’t know what their intentions are for today, or for what reason did they visit my room today. I am thinking of recording the whole interaction(letting them know beforehand) if they do visit again as I’ve told them to meet me at 7, today.

April 29, 2025 at 12:41 pmFirst things first you will have to show courage and tell your uncle that you will not nominate. If he still pressurise you, you and your mom shall go to police station and file a complaint. If you go alone, police won’t file it. Take your mom with you.
What are your uncle’s ground on making you nominee?

April 29, 2025 at 12:58 pmvery dumb reasons, he says I’m too young and that since I don’t have a father AND my mom is sick often, they will help me with my studies etc with that property’s money. We can already see they will kick my ass out as soon as they get full ownership. Also, since they are my father’s brother, they “deserve” it apparently. It’s a full family of 6-7 people plotting against us, they were always jealous of my father’s success as he was a risk taking individual.

April 29, 2025 at 1:15 pmThey don’t deserve anything! It’s your father’s money. This needs to be clearly communicated to them. Tell them they are not going to get anything out of those properties. -

April 30, 2025 at 7:50 amThey have no shame. None. In fact, they themselves are involving other family members, yesterday my friend said that one of the chacha called his mausi (who lives very far and has no involvement whatsoever) and said shit like “his mom is sick often, today also she fainted and is hospitalized, ask him (my freind) to co operate with us”Who tf co operates by giving 3cr worth of property 😭😭 very dumb bunch of people istg.

April 29, 2025 at 1:13 pm1. The property was purchased by your father. Both you and your mother are legal heirs to the estate.
2. Your relatives don’t have any legal grounds to pursue this
3. If they try to pressure you, hit back legally -

If your father has bought these flats with his own money as you said, your uncle’s family can’t do anything.
Make sure they never allowed to take physical hold of the area ever.
