May 6, 2026 at 12:15 pmHello! I am a divorced female who has adopted her husband’s surname post marriage and now wants to change it back. The problem is that i frequently travel abroad and obviously my passport and visa are on my marital name right now. For instance, my company wants to book a ticket for me to travel for an exhibition in EU in October 2026 (they are booking it in advance to save costs as a lot of people from India will be traveling for the same expo). I have not yet received my divorce decree due to which I am unable to make the change right now – i am hoping to receive it in a couple of weeks after which i will initiate the name change process. My question is – is it legally ok to have my Aadhar, PAN, bank accounts changed to my maiden name while i keep my passport and visa documents in my marital name for the upcoming travel in October? Will immigration allow me to travel in such a situation? I will obviously get my passport reissued in my maiden name after October so that everything is in order. But i do not wish to wait for so long to make the change on ALL my documents. I was aiming to start the process in August when I have summer holidays at work and get the main documents changed. Please let me know if anyone has any experience in this! Thanks in advance! -

Travel in your married name, how does it matter now , why lose a trip over that …?-

May 6, 2026 at 12:41 pmHaan exactly. I am planning to travel in my marital name. I am asking if I can change other documents like Aadhar or PAN first.

May 6, 2026 at 12:43 pmDon’t do anything right now …. Aadhar and other stuff gets
c-blocked in govt nonsense and will cause delays ….
Travel out as planned and then after returning change all documents etc …-

May 6, 2026 at 1:48 pmLawyer here. Continue with your marital name. Only once you have a decree in your hand, make any changes. And you can travel using your maritime name.-
